In this interview, we step off the beaten track of industry to delve into a workshop where perfume actuator caps are manufactured for top luxury brands.

Interview with Xavier LOMPECH, industrial performance engineer at Precitechnique

Who’s Precitechnique ?

Precitechnique is a precision pressing company. Our main market is the perfume industry. In particular, we manufacture actuator caps for perfume. Our presses operate at high speeds are able to produce several million parts a day. We also have the capacity to produce a large number of different references for major perfume brands.

Why install MES software ?

We wanted to install MES software for two main reasons. The need to control our processes, and to simplify the transmission of information. Process control requires precise and real-time knowledge of the workshop, and Astn’go synthesizes what’s happening on the workshop. As a result, we’ll be able to react quicker, and speed up decision-making.

While eliminating paper, Astn’go also makes it possible to standardize the information available at operator workstations.

How Astn’go digitalizes your workshop ?

Today, Astn’go equips a fast process, a high-speed press. We’re very satisfied with the data acquisition. The IIoT used is of good quality, and even contains a “memory” to make up for any internet connection problems. Compared with manual data collection, we’ve been able to collect the data we’re interested with greater reliably, i.e. OEE and various downtimes.

Astn’go lets you capitalize on data and work on standardizing the information available at the workstation.

Why choose Astn’go ?

We chose Astn’go for its simplicity and efficiency. It offers intuitive interfaces. Furthermore, the offer is clear and transparent: We know how much it costs and what’s included in the subscription. Its transparency and low cost for the first machines make Astn’go an ideal solution for small businesses. It’s a budget that’s easy to control. The solution matches what is advertised on the site, so there are no unpleasant surprises.

How did the set-up of Astn’go go ?

Astn’go is designed to be set up independently, and it shows. Astn’go’s strength is that it’s quick and easy to set up. The interfaces are very user-friendly, and you can feel that the ergonomics have been designed with this in mind. So it’s MES software that can be set up without a dedicated team. This is a major advantage for small companies. The Onboarding process allows Astn’go to be set up and used quickly. We took out the subscription on Friday at 3pm, received the IIoT on Tuesday and started collecting data straight away.

Astn’go is an excellent first step in digitising a workshop, and its subscription-based business model means you can do it with peace of mind. This is important for micro-enterprise and SMEs. Digitising equipment for €119 a month is an attractive proposition for manufacturers.

What are Astn’go’s strenghts ?

The ergonomics of the solution are effective for all types of user. Managers and operators alike. Operators are happy to switch from paper declarations to digital declarations. For managers, the Dashboard tool enables visual management and analysis. This is a major strength of the solution. With a bit of creativity, you can create beautiful Dashboards. I see Astn’go as an excellent change management tool for launching and accelerating the digitalization of our workshop.
